Freshly baked out of the oven MCIP winners, Kelly Cheung (张曦雯), Cheryl Wee (黄馨慧), “Malaysia Fala” Lenna Lim (林家冰), and Miss Friendship titleholder Ashton Hong (洪美珊) attended the awards ceremony at Shenzhen. Senior Kayi Cheung (張嘉兒) was present to support.
Champion Kelly Cheung said she slept immediately after she went home from the competition. But having slept for only three hours, she had to prepare herself for this event. She said, “It still feels like a dream.” Kelly plans to give the prizes to her parents, and will place the crown and scepter at home inside a glass display case. While she has six months of business management courses to complete in Chicago, she has decided to stay in Hong Kong. Not taking it as a pity, she said, “This industry does not wait for people. With a given opportunity, I would like to try it now. I can finish my studies later.” Her grandparents are settled in Hong Kong; therefore, they will take good care of Kelly.
Resembling features of artist Ava Yu, she does not recognize her. With a good mood, she said, “I am happy if I resemble someone beautiful.” On the other hand, the final received five complaints referring to Sammy’s not ideal performance and the Master of Ceremonies imitating the contestant’s Cantonese speaking skills as it a form of discrimination.

Speaking of the MCIP results, it was a surprise to Eric Tsang (曾志偉). He said, “I thought Hong Kong representative Rebecca Zhu would place into top three. It was a cold win for champion Kelly Cheung! That speaking, there are several importances in the judges? Second Runner-Up “Malaysia Fala” looks suitable for filming series, but playing a villain.”
JEN:
Sammy’s not ideal performance? All the entertainment came from him! Lenna suitable for playing a villain? 拭目以待!

there’s a type mistake… the friendship holder is ashton hong not cheryl wee.
Everyone is entitled to their favourites. Eric likes Rebecca but the decision is not up to him. It is up to the judges. I like Rebecca too but I have to agree that her answer was not that good. It was ok but not terrible. I do think she did well in the other segments.
Both Sammy and Eric were bad, but Sammy was partly responsible for making Eric bad. Their back and forth shenanigans just didn’t cut it that night. At least Eric was an actual MC for the night. Sammy was a dude in the background that just needed to shut up and keep his sentences short. Both their shtick are good for variety game shows, but it doesn’t cut it in a pageant.
With that said, I’d have to call Eric Tsang out for his unprofessionalism. Is he having a secret underground relationship with Rebecca or something? He questioned why it wasn’t Rebecca infront of the camera. How unprofessional of him. It’s desprespectful to the 3 who made top 3. Quite frankly Rebecca didn’t deserve top 3, or even top 5 for that matter. Her answers were not good.
Is that Rebecca crying after the fact?
@Raptoballz: Nooooo…did cha watch the same show as I did?! LOL. But, Eric was kinda of a disappointment, mispronouncing their names and messing up the announcement with top ten.
i also agree that lenna is good for the villain roles. she does not have the usual MCI winner demure (they prefer sweet, easy to deal w/ girls) even though she is absolutely perfect on stage. hence an evil fala chen
Exactly what I thought. In fact I find Sammy better than Eric that night. I think Lenna is good for villain like they pointed out. Although she resembles Fala, Fala has a softer look while Lenna appears sharper and smarter perhaps.
Kelly seems quite ambitious and knows how this industry is run. Good for her, but not sure if she’s too tall for most HK actors, haha.
